The 404 has a 1/4" slider. The BalancePlus 400 Series is the newest style from the number one curling shoe company, and this year it's available with a 1/4" slider. The shoe is a hybrid between the 200 and 500 series shoes. It has an upper that is very similar to the 200, and a split sole similar to the 500. The benefit to the split slider is increased flexibility and ultimately a little more comfort, whether you go up on your toe while delivering, or just going up and down the sheet sweeping.
