[EDEN PRAIRIE, MN, March 5th, 2024] After a back and forth game against the 2023 World Champions—Team Thiesse/Dropkin (Cory Thiesse, Korey Dropkin)—a swing of the biter bar determined that Matt and Becca Hamilton were the 2024 Mixed Doubles National Champions.

The competition, held at the Traverse City Curling Club in Traverse City Michigan, brought together some of the finest curling duos from across the nation. But in the end, it was the sibling duo of Becca and Matt Hamilton that emerged victorious, securing the right to represent the United States at the 2024 World Mixed Doubles Championship, scheduled for April 20-27 in Östersund, Sweden.

Trailing by one but holding the hammer in the eighth end, Hamilton/Hamilton scored two after Becca Hamilton eliminated a Thiesse/Dropkin stone that was almost fully buried behind a center line guard. After that shot was made, an official measure was required to decided if the Hamilton/Hamilton stone biting the back twelve-foot was in the rings. The biter bar confirmed that it was good enough to be second shot.

Thiesse/Dropkin took home the SIlver medal, while Geving/Shuster (Aileen Geving, John Shuster) defeated Anderson/Richardson (Taylor Anderson, Ben Richardson) to earn the bronze. All medal-winning teams have secured their spots in the 2025 Mixed Doubles Olympic Trials.

Following the game, Matt Hamilton expressed pride in his team’s run to the final.

“We had to win four straight elimination games, including a tiebreaker. I’m proud of how my sister and I played through that stretch, and we’re thrilled to represent the United States in Sweden.”

USA Curling CEO Dean Gemmell extended his thanks to the Traverse City Curling Club, noting that, "…the club and the community not only have a first-class facility, they delivered a great event for competitors and fans alike."
