Cherry Bombspiel Volunteers
CHEERY BOMBSPIEL VOLUNTEERS: As everyone knows, the Cherry Bombspiel in April is our biggest, most public Club event and it is always ALL HANDS ON DECK! We need volunteer coordinators to assist with many different activities in the days and weeks leading up to the Bombspiel. We also need setup and tear down helpers and on site help for the duration of the 3-day event. No particular experience or skills are required for most of this assistance – just a willingness to show up, help out, and show all our guests what a great Club we have here in Traverse City.
LEARN TO CURL INSTRUCTORS: Lead a class of beginner curlers through the basics of safety, delivery, sweeping, and scoring. Introductory outline of the class will be provided. Certification not required but some assisting experience recommended.
CLASS HELPERS: The only prerequisite is to have taken a Learn to Curl class yourself! Assist the instructor by holding brooms, moving rocks etc. No teaching experience necessary!
MENTORED CURLING PROGRAM INSTRUCTOR/MENTOR (Done for the season): You enjoy curling, you enjoy sharing your knowledge and enthusiasm with new curlers, and maybe you wouldn’t mind curling for free for 3 or 4 nights – then this role is perfect for you! New for 2019, this is a 4 week commitment and opportunity to mentor new curlers through the basics and into full league participation. 4 Mentors will work with 4 new curlers. While the first week is basically teaching a learn to curl class, the following 3 weeks are simply curling with mixed teams of two new curlers and two mentors each. The mentors generally should be curling in the lead and skip positions — as lead, you should be comfortable discussing and demonstrating sweeping and stone delivery with the new curlers. As skip, you should be ready to introduce basic strategy and skipping technique to your new vice skip curler.
