NOTE : Information currently out of date.
This past spring the TCCC Board engaged in a strategic planning session that resulted in several committees where members can get more involved in the operation of the Club. Please read over the descriptions below to see which committee best fits your skill set and interests. Those wishing to get more involved may sign up under each committee’s sign-up sheet. Please contact the committee chair with any questions you may have. Good curling!
Membership & Volunteer Committee
Chair: Chrissie Gonzales
The Membership & Volunteer Committee will be in charge of tracking membership types (full member vs volunteer member); being first point of contact for members (welcome email, name tags, etc); coordinating volunteers for events (learn to curl, bombspiel, corporate events, etc); planning/coordinating club volunteer events in the community (Friday Night Live, Cherry Festival) and other ways to get out in the community.
Chair: Don Piche
The Programming Committee will develop and oversee all programming activities including: Learn to Curls, league play, open curling, youth and adaptive curling, and corporate/group outings. This committee includes the Ice Team, which is responsible to see that ice is effectively and efficiently prepared for club activities.
Social Engagement Committee
Chair: Jill Riecke
This committee’s focus is to grow and retain a strong membership by creating opportunities for current members to socialize and build relationships with one another on and off the ice. We are recruiting members to explore and develop: host bars for broomstacking and viewing parties, league socials and potlucks, “friendly” tournaments with other curling clubs, a membership newsletter and other platforms for better membership communication.
Communications & Marketing Committee
Chair: Kaz McCue
The Marketing & Communications Committee is a group of volunteers dedicated to making sure all club members, league participants, and those interested in learning more can stay in touch with the Club. These volunteers manage our website and social media, as well as email communications to make sure everyone has the information they need. Marketing experience is not required – in fact, many of our members are people from other backgrounds interested in learning more about non-profit marketing and communications technology.
Sponsorship & Fundraising Committee
Chair: Cara Colbun
Sponsorship & Fundraising will create and oversee programs with the purpose to raise operational and capital funds for the Traverse City Curling Club. Current programs include Cherry Bombspiel sponsorships, rock handle sponsors, and banner sponsorship. This committee will also develop programs for the capital campaign for the dedicated ice facility.
Dedicated Ice Committee
Chair: Shawn Winter
This Committee will be exploring all aspects of establishing our very own curling facility. This includes comparing different business models, operational structures, potential partnerships, property locations and acquisitions, financial feasibility, and implementation timelines. The decisions made early on in this process will help ensure the Club remains viable into the future.
