Dear Curling Enthusiasts,
We hope your summer was as fun as it was fast. The good news is, CURLING is just around the corner. We wanted to be sure to share some important dates, changes and plans for the upcoming year.

ANNUAL KICKOFF MEETING: We want to encourage you to attend our Annual Kickoff Meeting, September 18 at The Filling Station. Happy hour starts at 5:30 and the formal meeting starts at 6:30. We will be sharing some of the exciting developments that our board has been working on throughout the summer with regards to dedicated ice. This meeting is also great opportunity to bring interested friends, share the vibe of our community and help them explore becoming part of our amazing club.EVERYONE is welcome – you don’t have to be a member to come and find out what we are all about.

NEW THIS SEASON– MENTORED CURLING PROGRAM (MCP): This is a new effort to help rookie curlers transition more efficiently into our leagues and give them more time to gain skills and confidence. A 4-week program, the MCP will occupy one sheet each night of curling (T, W,TH) and on Thursday mornings during the winter. Being a mentor is a great opportunity to share your love of the game with our new curlers, and has plenty of other perks as well. MCP can be a first curling experience or new curlers can join MCP after taking a Learn to Curl. Spread the word.

MORNING LEAGUE PLAY: With the goal of expanding our membership as we work towards dedicated ice, we are excited to offer a THURSDAY MORNING league this coming winter. This will allow an entire new group of folks to curl. We expect to have both League play and an MCP Program on Thursday mornings.

FRIENDLIES: We are currently arranging dates for a few “interclub” matches, called friendlies. These are typically one, occasionally 2-day events where members of our club will play another curling club in a series of games. It’s a great way to get lots of extra curling and an opportunity to curl on dedicated ice. Socially, it’s a great way to meet some our extended curling family. Club members will be notified when friendlies have been arranged and are available for sign up. Be sure to act fast….these spots are limited and generally go quickly.

HOUSE PAINTING -SEPTEMBER 22: Paul Koss and our ice team are getting ready for the annual installation of the houses and lines. This is an “on-ice” opportunity as they lay down the lines and paint the houses. Many hands make for light work. If you can help Paul on Sunday, September 22 , please contact Paul at ( Installation starts at 9am and should take about 4-5 hours. Just a heads up…learning to make curling ice makes you a better curler!

TRAINING DAY – ICE TEAM and ON ICE INSTRUCTORS – OCTOBER 8: Paul Koss and Jill Reicke are gearing up for a great need in our club….Ice prep team and curling instructors. These are vitally important to the success of our club and require some basic fundamentals to ensure consistency. We always need more help in these areas, so if you feel called, we could use you. There will be both off-ice and on-ice training on the evening of Tuesday, October 8th. Please contact Jill ( for instructors or Paul Koss( for ice team so they can get more detailed info to you directly.

LEARN TO CURL: Our schedule and registration for Learn to Curls is up and running on the website. October is our “onboarding” season, so you can send those friends, neighbors and coworkers the following link so they don’t miss out on our limited Learn to Curl space. (Insert link to L2C signup page).

REGISTRATION/LEAGUE SIGN-UP: We try to make room for as many curlers as possible, but space is limited, so sign up early to ensure your spot. Act now, and make sure your friends and teammates are signed up as well. We cannot hold spots assuming someone might sign up. Also, rest assured that you do not need to sign up as a team! We are happy to place you on a team and we often put new teams together at the beginning of both Fall and Winter leagues. That means new friends, so go for it!

Thanks again for your commitment to our mission of “Building a strong community through the sport of curling”. Please plan on attending the Member’s meeting on September 18 and reconnecting with your curling friends. I love seeing all of you in person…it is so energizing to me as we move forward with challenges of dedicated ice!
