Learn To Curl
What is Learn to Curl? Trained instructors will take you through the basics of delivery (throwing the stone), sweeping, safety information, strategy, and etiquette. Curling is a sport that is appropriate for most ages and athletic abilities; those with difficulty crouching can learn standing delivery (also known as stick curling). Classes run about two hours; Class size is limited to 8 students per sheet to maximize individual attention and safety. There are no pre-requisites for Learn to Curl, but a Learn to Curl class, the Mentored Curling Program, or prior experience curling is required before you can join a league. Learn to Curl class attendees can also sign up for the Mentored Curling Program, or can become club members and join one of our recreational curling leagues.

Mentored Curling Program
This is a 4-week ‘Learn to Curl’ program with 4 experienced club curlers acting as ‘mentors’ and teachers for 4 new/inexperienced curlers. The program takes place during a regular league night on one of our 5 curling sheets, giving you the chance to experience curling like our full club members do.
- Week #1 is essentially a standard Learn-to-Curl class with fewer students, leaving time for lots of practice and individual attention.
- Week #2 is game play with 2 mentors and 2 students per team (mentors preferably curling lead and skip). Emphasis on practicing and honing week #1 skills, while also learning the etiquette and expected pace of a real game (i.e., a ‘dress rehearsal’ or ‘practice’ for the real thing in weeks 3 and 4).
- Weeks 3 and 4 are real games against regular league teams playing that night. The results count in the standings for all teams.
There are no pre-requisites for the Mentored Curling Program (MCP). MCP can be your first curling experience, or you can sign up for MCP after taking a Learn to Curl class if you don’t feel ready to dive into a full rec league session on your own.
MCP options offered each league night. To register for MCP, click on the option below that fits your schedule.
